If only The Hunger Games were real… and other unlikely scenarios that would benefit my health.

If The Hunger Games were real: 

1. I’d be in shape! Fearing a fight to the death every year would probably keep me in shape.

2. There wouldn’t be enough food to let me get fat anyways. haha. Seriously though, all the people are like starving in the book. While it does make me extremely grateful (I’d pass on the squirrel stew for now) … I also know that none of them are fat…

3.  I’d be so in love with the Baker’s son… (who’s name is Peeta, like Pita, like bread… seriously?)

If  The Princess Diaries were real:

1. I’d stay in shape on the off chance I actually was a princess just waiting to be discovered.

2. My hair wouldn’t look anything like Mia’s pre-makeover look. Are you kidding me?!

3. I wouldn’t let my friend call her basic cable local TV show “Lily Tells it like it is”.

If  Gone with the Wind was real:

1. I could make designer duds out of curtains.

2. I would talk with extra syllables and an extra dose of whine at all times.

3.  I wouldn’t have to worry about getting fat because those corsets wouldn’t let you eat anything anyways.

If Twilight were real:

1. I could just become a super model by becoming vampire: Worth it.

2. I’d have to drink blood, even if it’s from animals… and that’s kinda gross. (Okay, really gross)

Lesson learned today: In a perfect world there would be major motivation to workout (fights to the death), McDonald’s wouldn’t be on every corner, we’d be happy when we got food and understand the blessing it is (ooh, got heavy right there), and I would be able to make clothes out of curtains.

The Best You Ever: Kiersten Tackles Self-Esteem

Go to practically any highschool in America today. I guarentee you’d hear something like one of the following:

“I’m so fat.” “I need to lose 15  pounds.” “Oh my goodness, my thighs are huge.”

Then the girls these girls are complaining to immediately and robotically try to make them feel better. Sometimes these girls don’t even sound sincere.

“No you’re not.” “You look fine!” “Those jeans are so cute on you though!”

Girl group number one here is looking for a confidence boost, girl group number two here is sick of giving them out.

Yeah, I really am doing a blog on self-esteem and being healthy. Why? I have talked with so many girls and had so many friends, where this is an issue. 

Pre-teen girls, teen girls, broke twenty something’s in college on the Ramen Diet, mom’s who just cannot seem to drag themselves to the YMCA after chasing kids around all day. Most every girl or woman you know has been here.


I think the number one thing to remember here is that God made you. Not only did He make you, but He made you in His image! The bible says you were wonderfully made.

His heart breaks when you belittle yourself so much, because you are His daughter, His creation and His love. He died for you to be able to live this life… you don’t want to waste it constantly worrying about your body, do you?

We are also told not to focus on our appearence, which seems to have taken a priority in your mind. “Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty that depends on fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” 1 Peter 3:3-4, NLT

While I don’t think the bible verse is saying “Be ugly, and you shall be loved,” it’s saying to place God at the forefront of your mind, and then that beauty will radiate from you. If you respect yourself, (which I am not saying is easy), you will see yourself in a different light. When thoughts of being gross and disgusting cross your mind, eliminate them right there.

I also KNOW how hard it is to think of yourself as beautiful, but that’s just it. God made YOU beautiful.

If you’d like to feel better about yourself, focus on something else.

Exercise and Healthy Living

This body isn’t your permanent home, right? Science has pretty much proven that all people eventually die (or God’ll come back)… Either way eventually you end up in heaven (If you don’t know that, we need to talk! Message me!)

“Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Basically this verse says… Your body is a temple where the living God resides as the Holy Spirit. This is your temporary home, practically a Rental Home while you wait on the big beautiful mansion in Heaven, prime real estate.

Instead of focusing on losing weight and looking beautiful, focus on taking the best care of God’s property that you possibly can. Eat healthy, exercise, and shine God’s light while you’re here on earth.

If you stay focused on loving God, living for Him, and taking care of His temple… I cannot help but believe that you will look and feel better, and have a much better outlook on life. And just be happier in general.

While exercise has it’s place, and it is important, 1 Tim 4:8 tells us, “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

Kiersten’s Steps To: Gain Self Esteem and Be the Best You that You Can Be!

  1. Keep things in perspective, GOD FIRST. (Matthew 6:33)
  2. Allow yourself to see yourself as God’s daughter and creation. Remember, you are a Princess, your father is the King of Kings. (Isaiah 63:16 )
  3. Take care of God’s temple and your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
  4. Don’t focus on how  you look  (Proverbs 31:30, 1 Peter 3:3-4)
  5. Glorify God in all you do and that light will shine through you. (Philippians 4:13, Philippians 1:9-11)
